The property consists of two houses set in about 11 acres of its own land. The main house dates from 1804, having been a farmhouse (with a hay-loft). It is reached at the end of its own drive, 500 metres from the road. The second house (the “guesthouse”) is a converted cheese factory about 30 metres below the main house. The grounds originally included a jasmine garden (for the local parfumerie) and a working mill - now in ruin - powered by the lively perennial stream which still flows just as vigorously through the property. (It is augmented by springs on the edge of the property above the house.) The whole property is in a valley, which slopes towards the adjoining medieval village of Seillans. The farmhouse affords stunning views of this exquisite village. The guesthouse looks out on a meadow and the shallow stream. Farmhouse
The main house comprises 6 bedrooms, a large dining-drawing room, large new kitchen, three full bathrooms and a shower-room with WC. The kitchen has a new range, washing-machine and dish-washer. TV, Wifi and IPod stations are available. The bedroom on the top floor - the old hay-loft - is a living space in itself. Apart from a large double-bed, it has its own marble bathroom with basin in one corner, as well as a well-stocked library of quality books. It also has direct access to the garden through the back. Also on the top floor, there is a smaller single bedroom suitable for a child or infant, and an adjoining shower-room with WC. On the middle floor, there are two other double bedrooms (with en-suite bathroom) and a smaller bedroom with double-bed. The single bedroom also has direct access to the garden. On the ground floor, which has the kitchen and dining-drawing room, there is a further small bedroom with en-suite full bathroom. The house is fully furnished throughout to a high standard, including fine bed-linen, towels, quality crockery, table-ware and kitchen utensils. There is a large portable ping-pong table. Near the house there are lots of spaces for meals, and many recreational (and romantic!) spots. There is a 5 X 12-metre oval pool with large stone surround, and a Raj tent. The rest of the property features two large patios (in front of and beside the house) with Weber barbecue, walled terraces, oleander, roses, groves of fruit trees (olives, cherries, figs, apples, pears, plums, hazel-nuts, walnuts), a very large paddock and two waterfalls. The property offers a rare combination of total seclusion, but short access to the village along one of the paths through the grounds.
Guesthouse (can be rented with the farmhouse)
Originally a cheese factory, this self-contained one-storey dwelling has been converted and re-modernised in 2010. It comprises two double bedrooms (each with a double bed, one with an extra single bed), each with shower-room and WC attached. The guesthouse is fully furnished, air-conditioned and features attractive high wooden beams.
